The NSLS membership actually pays for itself in about a year through insurance discounts and then it's a free org on my resume with the rest of their benefits. I see some people are skeptical about joining NSLS. I want to share my experience. There are 3 tiers to the program, and yes, you pay to be a part of each tier.

It's not a scam, as a scam is a dishonest scheme or a fraud. If you have a passing score at WGU then you get an invite, as a passing score at WGU is a B, which qualities you. There is a $99 "initiation" fee, most if not all Honour societies have a membership/ initiation fee. I have seen these fees range from $25 to several hundred dollars. One time I went to volunteer for this organization and they needed a letter of rec uploaded, and I didn't want to bother any of the professors for such a small thing so I just used the NSLS one.
